You're Still Standing (Revisited)

You walk along the beach in the sand and in the sun.

You head up that dirt trail and the climb stretches you and makes you stronger.

Turn around

What do you see? It’s the path you’ve made to get to where you are. Look at the footprints along the way made in the sand or along that dirt trail…despite the stones and the twigs, through the elements that threatened to slow you down or hinder your progress, your footprints continued on.
And you’re still standing

The rocks in your path were necessary, strategically placed by the One whose hands move mountains. Though the rocks, they caused you to step to the left or to the right, they did not deter you. You pressed on.
All the things of your past have brought you to right now – this place. The people of your world, their words and actions and their impact on you…give shape to your here and now. But how they shape the rest of your journey is up to you.

You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. (Psalm 16:11) NIV

Cutting Off the Dead Branches

'Tree Branch Overhangs Rapids' photo (c) 2010, Jenn Durfey - license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/
I tried to blame it on the changing of the seasons. The tree with the branch that had given up the will to survive. The one that chose death over life.
Whether the heat of day or the quiet, cool stillness of night; whatever the cause, that one limb, the largest on the tree….once the largest part of me….refused to live the life it had been given. And me, given no choice but to let it go.
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. (John 15:2)

It’s never easy to cut away something…or someone that once was so much a part of us….yet sometimes it’s a necessary pain to promote new growth and to allow for the work God desires to do in and through us. Sometimes, we have to cut away that which refuses to bear fruit to allow for the true light, the true blessings.
I find peace in knowing our Father in Heaven loves us unconditionally. Our true inheritance lies in Him. We don’t need the approval or validation of any earthly being in order to find the peace that only comes through a relationship with Him.
Our value does not lie in the dead branch; relationships which only weigh us down and bring negativity to our lives. The dead branch holds no value for anyone. It serves only to remind us of a life once lived.

Live the life you’ve been given, sweet sister. Live it to serve the One who knows your heart and who has promised to remain with you to the end.
Allow His presence, His love and His power to help you sever the dead branches in your life and enjoy freedom in Christ!

Sending you many blessings today,
Debbie

Success

'Beer Bread' photo (c) 2009, Vegan Feast Catering - license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/
The bread dough moves soft and pliable in my hands. I form it into little balls and space them out on the pan.
I love how the sun splashes warm and comforting across the counter and mingles with the Classical music strumming. A lazy afternoon breeze wafts through my kitchen and I breathe in the quiet moment; the peace of it all.

Contentment all dressed up and making sense out of the day.
I strive for uniformity with straight little rows on the pan.
Had I heard somewhere that all were to be alike?
Would it matter if some were oddly shaped, some large, some small?
Each would successfully serve its purpose….regardless, I decide.

Only YOU can make your foot print.
No one else.
Your laugh, your smile, the way you sigh when you see a rainbow – it all makes you unique.
It makes you….you.
The road you take toward success won’t be like theirs. Won’t be like hers. There may not be a road at all…until you carve one out.
But, you’ll get there.
He said you would.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) NIV

Sometimes, all it takes is a dream…and to be pliable in His hands.

"Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." (Isaiah 64:8) NIV

Be Blessed,
Debbie
