Spots of Light

Just when the clouds move in. When every door closes and you’re left there in the dark, the spots of light appear, there in the cracks. It may not seem like much to others, but it’s just enough to remind you that you weren’t meant to live in the darkness, deep in your discouragement and despair. You were meant to keep looking for the tiny cracks of light. They’re there and they appear at just the right moment. You see them when you’re second guessing and doubting.

When you’re questioning your efforts and your motives.

He reminds us of the mission set before us and makes the path a little straighter. When we realize that what lies beyond those tiny cracks is abundant Son light and we see Him waiting there and quickly realize He’s been there all along.

May the Lord of all creation bless you today with His peace, His presence and His strength to continue watching for those spots of light.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12) NIV

Who's Behind Your Dream?

Laundry doesn’t fold itself.
What a wonderful and hidden blessing found in those quiet moments of smoothing out lines and wrinkles of the day. It seems my deepest, heaviest thinking takes place over stacks of fluffy bath towels, the jeans and dress shirts of my hard-working husband.
Even when I’m feeling a bit unraveled, I can fold things into neat and tidy stacks and feel some sense of accomplishment, though I’m still rushing to be and do all that the day demands.

There was a time when I couldn’t see beyond the tall piles of laundry. Couldn’t see beyond the walls that enclosed my mind and my spirit. I couldn’t see past the frustrated, depressed, “you’re-not-good-enough” mess that I was; beyond my failed attempts or the unclean, untidy, undone and unfinished….into God’s real plan.
I assumed my plan was His plan, so I headed strong and fast into each new dream with wheels spinning in the mud and going nowhere fast.
Back then, the only voice I heard was my own. Sadly, all others were distant and less important.
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
(Romans 10:17) ESV
I push the stack of towels aside and rummage around for the matching socks. I join them, one with the other, and realize the simple reality; the lesson in the moment:
A dream powered by our own will
will be an uphill climb and reap little benefit
but a dream powered by prayer and unwavering faith in God
will reap blessings of God-sized proportions.
Who’s behind your dreams today?
Who’s behind your thoughts and your actions?
Who’s behind…you?

I’m so glad laundry doesn’t fold itself.

Be blessed today!
Debbie

If You're Broken Today (Revisited)

I'm sharing a post from last June. Just seems appropriate for so many who are in my thoughts today. God bless you, sister - you are not alone.

The sweet words of encouragement come in many forms; the well wishers who send the cards, send the emails, “friend” you through social media. They mean well. Their words are deep and are born out of genuine care and concern.

Yet, words alone don’t keep the walls from tumbling down.
There has to be a point, usually when you’ve fallen to your knees, when they aren’t just “words” anymore. When they’re living and breathing deep within you….when they become the very reason you’re living and breathing.
When it’s all crashing down and you can’t gather the pieces fast enough. When it seems chaos and confusion are your daily “bread” and the devil’s laugh is louder than your prayers….
Speak His Name!
Praise Him right out loud!
Say the words!
“Praise you, Jesus! Praise you, Jesus! All I can do is praise you, Jesus!”

Let the cry of your heart and your praises to God force the enemy back to the flames of Hell and simply speak His name…wherever you are.
~~Lord Jesus,
I lift my sweet sister in Christ to you today. She who is overwhelmed and overcome by all that is not of you. You are the God of reconciliation and of healing. You love her more than what is humanly possible and only You can keep the walls from falling. Only You can truly pick up the pieces for her and make her world whole again. I praise you – I speak with my heart and profess with my mouth that You are king of kings and true healing comes from only You! In Your precious name….Amen.
And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.
(1 Corinthians 6:14)

God Bless you, sweet friend,
Debbie

Trust God With Your Dreams

Hello, my friend! I’m so glad you’ve dropped by for a visit. Come, join me here on the leather sofa. Push my mini-dachshund aside and snuggle up with that big pillow while I pour the tea.
I hope you’re doing well and feeling blessed. Sure feels like fall here today, doesn’t it?
Quite honestly, I’ve had a week of trials; of attempts and failures. But I refuse to wear the heavy cloak of discouragement that threatens to hug around my shoulders and grip me tight.
Have you ever felt that way? Like no matter how hard you work and strive toward your dream it becomes more distant and even fades a little?
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will
for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

That’s when I have to remember that if it feels more out of reach and even impossible to attain, it’s not because of the circumstances, but because of me! I’m sure you’ve heard the expression, “Don’t tell God how big your problems are – tell your problems how big your God is!”
It might sound cliché, but it’s so true! It’s easy to think in human terms and let our circumstances distract us from the only One who will keep us on course.
Sometimes, I have to remind myself that God already knew about the many pot holes in the road that leads to our goals. He saw the stumbling blocks long ago, and yet…He signed my name to that dream. He signed your name to your dreams. He knew you could carry it out. He knew you would as long as you relied on His strength and His leading…sought after and listened to His voice when the path brought you to a dead end.

When you stand at a trail head and stare up at the top of the mountain, you can’t see the path that leads to it; all the valleys, the twists and turns, the switchbacks, the deep ruts….but God knows they exist, and the mountain remains – your goal remains!
He hasn’t given up on you, sweet friend. It may be that the only one giving up on ever reaching the top of that mountain is you. Trust in the Lord and He will get you to the top!
Many Blessings,
