Let's Create a Family Recipe Book!

I have felt a real prompting lately; actually, more like a gentle shove off a steep cliff! (I'm a little stubborn and sometimes that's what it takes). I guess I'm still learning that dreams are just thoughts until we put wings and faith to them. If we let apprehension and insecurity hold us back, we'll never experience some of the joys God has in store for us or for others. I try not to jump off that cliff with EVERY idea I have, but this one has been around awhile.

When I married my husband back in '88, my grandmother gave me a bridal shower. She asked all the guests to bring at least one or more of their favorite recipes to share with me. I ended up with quite a stack of cherished, handwritten, tried-and-true recipes from grandmothers, my mom, my sweet aunts, cousins and friends and I still treasure them to this day! I have many more than what this photo shows and each one always brings a smile.

These recipes...your recipes...are a part of family history; a part of who we are. I just feel they should be enjoyed and preserved for the next generation (and in some cases, even perfected, LOL).

I would love to help you create a beautiful collection of favorite family recipes to share with generations to come. Recipes, photos of loved ones along with comments or stories about each one can evoke the most cherished of memories. If you'd like to preserve your family traditions in this way and create a lasting memento, you're welcome to leave a comment or contact me at the email address given in the photo for more information.

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. (Titus 2:3-5)

He decreed statutes for Jacob
and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
    to teach their children,
so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children. (Psalm 78:5-6)
